Born 1942 in Berlin, Germany. Medical training and degree at the University of Mainz, Germany. Specialist in internal medicine, rheumatology and physical medicine. Past full professor and director of the Devision of Rheumatology, Departement of Internal Medicine, Medical School Hannover, Germany. Former President of the German Society of Rheumatology. Currently rheumatologist in the Rheumatologikum Hannover, Germany
Sterling G. West MD, MACP, MACR
Professor of Medicine
Born 1950 in the United States. Undergraduate training at the US Military Academy at West Point. Medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, Internal Medicine residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center (AMC), and Rheumatology fellowship at Walter Reed AMC. Served 24 years in the US Army as a physician and Chief of Rheumatology and the fellowship program at Fitzsimons AMC as well as Consultant to US Army Surgeon General. Retired as a Colonel to become a tenured Professor of Medicine and the Rheumatology Fellowship Director at the University of Colorado School of Medicine for the next 20+ years. Developed and edited Rheumatology Secrets now in its 4th edition. Currently, an attending physician in the Rheumatology fellows’ clinic at the University of Colorado.
Beat A. Michel MD
Professor of Medicine
Born 1951 in Switzerland. Medical training and degree at the University of Bern and at the Stanford Medical Center, USA. Specialist in internal medicine and rheumatology. Past full professor and director of the Department of Rheumatology at the University of Zurich. Founder of the Swiss Clinical Quality Management (SCQM) registry, founder and president of the Swiss institution Rheuma Schweiz (www.rheuma-schweiz.ch). Currently medical advisor at the RheumaClinic Bethanien in Zurich, Switzerland.
